davekillcountysmith Less reliant on guest female vocals in this collection. It gives the album more of an identity. JIW’s sound is unique. Much to enjoy for a folk punk. Favorite track: Two Legs, One Leg.

1.
Early one morning, I was awakened By your breathing, on my window pane You were writing my name, There was no mistaking it I never thought you'd come 'round here to see me again We live in houses filled with light, We stand and sit and walk around in it Still there are those who live in night, Let us not forget our former loneliness.

Raise your fist put on your summer dress Do your very very best No matter what, no matter what might kill you I was called as witness to a mess Where even young men caught their breath And hung their heads And walked away weepin. There are things no man should see I have seen them clearly If your heart Has not been broken dear Then I suggest Lest breaking it That you do not come near me Lets go into the city at dawn Press our fingers tight to the pillars we find And make them question what they've built upon I'll bring em down like Samson did But in the end I'm gonna need you to dig me Outta the rubble my friend Lets go in to the forest While the leaves are still on the trees Press our arms around the trunks Like silent monks And squeeze till our forearms bleed There are things no man should see I have seen them clearly If your heart Has not been broken dear Then I suggest Lest breaking it That you do not come near me

Before 04:29
Dry grass can burn easy, easy laugh It shouts a loud orange shroud out in the rain, Stares in at my face Flickers pale again Eats a pile of trash Its a photograph Its nothing Do you believe I knew your name Before the coronation came, Before the years of distancing Before we tumbled, tumbling You're the tall one, better yet, You are light in my dark In the land of freeways, clogged memories There are houses up the hill where There are only stairs In the cleanest air Right after the rain You can hear the train Whistling At night the ashes heave themselves I should ignite and read these signs your name In tongues of flame In the windowpane The light gets trapped Beneath the lamp, Hovering

I used to have two legs, now I only have one. When you left me I tipped over, I can no longer run. You were steady as a steel post When you held me in your arms But I slid downhill and to the coast Im living in a storm Los Angeles I do not miss, I don't know what it is Something I lost ten years ago or more We were living in the desert then, the skies were big and wide And believing was as easy as taking a step outside. I used to have two legs, now I only have one When you left me I tipped over, I can no longer run.
5.
Uninhabited 02:24
Uninhabited, uninhabited I have become uninhabited Cry aloud my friend, Cry aloud my friend Uninhabited Call again I was not here, Call again, I was not here I was where the land leaves itself Out like a carcass, out like a carcass Uninhabited Beneath skyscrapers, Beneath skyscrapers, Uninhabited

Throat all dry and I'm walking Parched thunderclouds to the west Heartbroken I found a tree in a creek-bed and lay down too weary to rest. And I dreamed I held you by the window Of a house overlooking the sea I dreamed our children played soft and slow A song I had written for thee Lets take our picnic basket And our crackin picture frame Get that old rowboat overturned and patch it And push out from the icy bank On the other side of the river, Is a palace fit for a king If you do not come with me across the water, You surrender everything While the train for the desert is leaving, Like a man swimming straight out to sea I left you on your porch in the evening As the dew leaves the moss on the tree In the morning the sun will come shining A body washed up on the rocks Will you quit your crying my darling, When they tally up what has been lost A great painter has been born again In a dump outside mumbai While ten millionaires just disappeared Out above the atlantic sky And my mother she's been reunited With the blue thistles bloom In the tired train station she said she'd been missing me, Whistling round the room And I love you as sun rises As oceans rise and fall As a bird whips through the air alone And catatonic calls I am stunned, I am stunned Grasping gasping for the truth If you do not come with me cross the water You will die alone in your youth While the train for the desert is leaving Like a man swimming straight out to sea I left you on your porch in the evening As the dew leaves the moss on the tree In the morning the sun will come shining A body washed up on the rocks Will you quit your crying my darling When they tally up what has been lost

My Tall Tree 04:19
She wore those brown pants so stark, She had no need to thaw or freeze. I stared at seedlings in the dark, I told her eyes hello, those hollow seas. I've been up water-tanks in parks, I've been up staircases nobody sees. I told her town hello, I say hello you towering tree. Oh when I get home, I'm gonna be lonely. Well I used to ride to you in brand new trains, You were so full of light it hurt to look. Well I used to write to you in brand new trains, I came up from the dark in all your books.
8.
Past your new house, I went walking, I heard you singing, I heard you singing, But you were just an old man And your voice was just a flute made of porcelain. I'll tell you softly, I got no reason To love you like this, its just a freedom Which I've been given, and which I'm breathing in Like the air from the coldest darkest mountain. Saw you there then, it was last weekend, On the beach in an umbrella you were speaking. And you held my hand, we were singing, It was easier then, we were cold children. And I'm so thankful that I have found you, I was so alone, when I was without you, And im so thankful that you like the things I do, I like the things you do as well And thats what makes it less painful to be living
